I heard “Smoke on the Water” today. I wondered if they ever found the the infamous “stupid”. An online article said they identified the “stupid with a flare gun who burnt the place to the ground”.

Grass Carrying Wasps in my Yard
July 13, 2021 Nature Note: I have lots of cool and weird nature stuff going on at this new place. I have a bee house that had sticks or grass sticking out of several of the holes. I was puzzled. And then last week I just happened to be going through my Ohio DNR nature guides of Bees and Wasps when I found an entry of a critter called the Grass Carrying Wasp with a picture of exactly what I have in my beehouse. I never heard of or read anything in all the books I have read about a “grass carrying” wasp. Now if it would hang around long enough for me to see in person. Below are photos of their nests in my bee/wasp house.
