Praying Mantis Encounters

This was a memory on Facebook from two years ago pre blog times, Sept. 18, 2019. Thought you might like it. I had many praying mantises in my yard and marked them with paint or Sharpies to help identify each one:

Today’s Nature Note: Mantids galore…pictures from the past few days. The green female not seen since last week. New blue marked female. Two males on window acting territorial. I have never seen that behaviour before. And the black female not seen in two weeks suddenly shows up. And a Male finds her and they are seen discreetly mating down in the daylilies, while a male is nearby on the the sunflower.

What the World Needs Now is Love……..Fifty Years Ago on the Music Charts

I don’t know what song on the radio made me think of something the other day, but the song “What the World Needs Now is Love ( Abraham, Martin and John) by Tom Clay came to mind.

I hadn’t heard it in decades, and being that it was fifty years ago this month it was on the charts, I looked it up on Youtube. It can still bring tears to my eyes. People of my generation will have the three events depicted seared into their memories. It was a time of change, an unpopular war and political fallout. Not unlike today.

Tom Clay died in 1995, so Youtube wasn’t invented yet. So there won’t be an “official video” ala MTV style that he would have had a hand in producing. There are several entries of his song with graphic video versions. The song evokes enough emotion without the videos of the assinations.

So I just posted the 45 rpm record version with the audio. See the link below.
